Rated 4 out of 5 by Rhodabike from A few tweaks would make this perfect When I planted a dwarf sour cherry tree I envisaged pies and deserts - not tediously pitting one small cherry at a time outdoors on the deck to minimize the mess. This six-at-once pitter has greatly sped up the process and reduced the amount of cherry juice squirting everywhere. I can actually use it indoors in the kitchen! Unfortunately, it's designed with the larger sweet cherries in mind, so some of the really small Carmine Jewel cherries get stuck in the hole that the pit is supposed to fall into and none of them fall cleanly without me having to pull the pit out by hand. If Starfrit were to offer an after-market sour cherry holder tray, with smaller diameter cups and pit holes, it would make a lot of people with dwarf sour cherry trees on the prairies very happy. Also, the cup holding the pits could be a bit bigger. On the whole, though, I'm quite happy with this purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by hello to 1 and all from Always wanted to get one I received my cherry pitter today and tested it out. Don't forget to wash the cherries first and you also need to pull off the stems before putting them in the pitter. It does a very good job, but make sure, when you take out the cherries from the plate, that all the pits fell through.

Do you have to place cherries stem side up or does it matter.
Hello, Once the stem is removed, simply place the cherry in the cavity - there is no specific way to place it. Enjoy!
