Potentially great but needs better quality control
I was very excited to find this item so that we could stop borrowing an older version from my mother-in-law and use our own. The problem was that we got all ready to can our pears, and the Rotato Express wouldn't start. My husband found that one wire was not soldered to anything (it looked like someone tried to solder it but missed the mark). Thankfully he knew how to fix it, but this was a huge oversight by Starfrit's quality control department. Now that we got the Rotato Express working, it seems to do a pretty good job (though it does remove more pear with the peeling than the older Dazee Stripper did). I just hope we don't find any more issues...

Great Gadget Yet Lacks Durability
I purchased 4 of the Starfrit Rotato Expresses on Black Friday as gifts and one for me. It seemed to be a good deal. I've used mine several times. Last night while I was demonstrating it to some friends the entire Blade Holder-Lock in Attachment fill apart. It is broken. It appears to be the weakest link in the system. The Lock in Attachment should be made more durable or out of another material. It is not strong enough and will continue to break sooner than later as time goes by. I will call customer service tomorrow to try and resolve the issue.

Wonderful peeler
I just bought this and have only used it a couple of times and I love it. It comes with two extra blades but can't find replacement blades on this website. When all three of the provided blades wear out I guess you are supposed to throw the Rotato Express away and buy a new one. BUMMER!!!

Fantastic contraption
I just received mine. I live outside the USA, in Colombia. I purchased it from Amazon. After some testing and following instructions (everybody SHOULD), I discover that this apparatus is absolutely superb, fantastic. You just can't imagine how much time you save in the kitchen, mostly peeling potatoes. We have a typical Colombian soup called "Ajiaco" which is mainly made from potatoes. I have to peel several of them when I cook this soup so with this machine, it just takes a few minutes.

Long lasting
I bought the Rotato Express over 10 years ago and I use it a lot especially for big holiday meals. I am just getting ready to order new Blades for the first time. When I bought it my husband called it a gimmick, but this is no gimmick. I absolutely love it!

Huge fan!
I just bought 3 more as gifts after having used mine happily for the past few months.
What a great gadget. The Rotato is especially useful during the holidays when it seems that I use lots of potatoes and apples. The Rotato is busy peeling while I'm slicing. We make a great team! What did I ever do without this!!

Works great but not if you a disability.
I bought it awhile ago. I had a stroke and it paralyzed my dominant right arm so I thought I made a good buy. It works great but once it gets to the bottom the peeler gets disengaged. I have a hard time of putting it back on without injuring myself. I only wish that you made that is permanently sealed to the the clip on, and that would be the answer for me. Just an idea. Everytime I peel a potato it falls off. Is it supposed to be like that or do I stop it before it gets to the end.

Can this peel sweet potatoes?

This vegetable peeler will work most efficiently with the most round items and softer skin. We understand no veggies are perfect but the more spherical the vegetable will be, the best it will work. Also, a sweet potato skin maybe a little too hard for the peeler to be the most efficient.

Thank you for your question. The Rotatoe Express is an electric peeler you could use for peeling potatoes and some varieties of fruits and vegetables. It does not make fries.

Very first use, I put a pear securely in the holder, turned it on, and the blade flies off within half a second. I reattach and it keeps flying off. Am I doing something wrong or is this defective? I believe the manual says pears work.

I've been having issues with my peeler. It peels just fine but recently I've been having to take the batteries out because it starts to run on its own even when put away. I have it in a safe spot where nothing touches the button. Not sure what is wrong.
