How hot can you set this fondue pot? I want it to heat oil for shrimp and beef. Thanks.

Asked by: DeeD
Good day, It is difficult to have the exact answer as there are several factors that can make a difference to have the best dial setting. For example: OIL 1. The amount of oil that you placed into the pot can make a difference on the temperature regulation (dial position); as you add more oil, you will need to set the dial at the highest temperature and it is the opposite if you have less oil. 2. Oils do not have the same boiling point which may influence the desired temperature. You may need to validate the boiling temperature of the oil that you will use. MEAT, TEMPERATURE AND QUANTITY 1. One of the factors that may affect the cooking time and temperature of the oil is the temperature of the meat that you will place into the pot. If the meat is frozen, it will take more time to cook and will affect the oil temperature. You may need to adjust the dial position higher to regulate inner oil temperature. 2. The quantity that you place into the pot may affect the oil temperature and you may need to adjust the dial position. SOLUTION The best solution would be to use a thermometer to validate if the cooking temperature is correct, depending on what you eat. As an example, shrimp and beef have different temperature and cooking time. For a safe cooking temperature you should have an inside temperature of 74 °C (165 °F) for the shrimp and the beef are as following: • medium-rare - 63 °C (145 °F) • medium - 71 °C (160 °F) • well done - 77 °C (170 °F) In short, you will need to adjust and proceed with some test to find what works best for you, based on those factors. Thank you
