Our best fondue meal ideas

Fondue is a great way to spend quality time with family and friends.

There are all kinds of fondue recipes to choose from, and sometimes it's hard to choose just one for your meal! To help you out, we've put together some of our best fondue ideas in this article.

1. Fondue bourguignonne

Our first fondue idea is a fairly classic recipe: fondue bourguignonne. This quick-to-prepare recipe requires just a few ingredients and is delicious with cubes of beef and assorted vegetables. You can choose, for example, carrots, peppers, mushrooms, broccoli or any other vegetable you fancy.

Fondue bourguignonne can be served with béarnaise sauce and toasted baguette.

2. Champagne and light cheese fondue

Cheese fondue is a much-loved but rather rich recipe. For a more nutritious and less rich fondue, we recommend using light cheeses and serving it with whole-wheat bread. You can also accompany your meal with fresh fruit, such as apples, pears or grapes.

3. Chinese fondue

Like fondue bourguignonne, Chinese fondue is a beloved classic recipe. First, choose the different meats you wish to enjoy with your meal. We recommend thinly sliced meats, such as chicken, beef, pork or any game meat. Then choose the vegetables to accompany your Chinese fondue, such as broccoli, mushrooms, cauliflower or peppers. Don't forget to buy sauces to dip your meats and vegetables in.

If you want to enhance the flavors of your Chinese fondue, add some dehydrated mushrooms.

4. Red wine fondue

If you want to try a different fondue recipe, fondue with a red wine-based broth is a great idea! This fondue generally requires a little more cooking time than the other recipes we've suggested so far, but believe us, it's worth it!

With red wine fondue, we suggest you prepare potatoes, cauliflower, white mushrooms and peppers. For meats, there are many possibilities: veal, lamb, elk, duck, bison, chicken, scallops, shrimp or clams. In short, you can create a meal you'll love with all these choices!

5. Vietnamese fondue

Vietnamese fondue with lemongrass broth is very tasty and offers an interesting alternative to traditional fondues. For even more flavor, we suggest you prepare your broth the day before. The next day, you can add rice noodles, bean sprouts and green onions to your broth.

Vietnamese fondue is delicious with shrimps and beef cubes. For sauces, you can choose according to your taste, but tartar, hoisin and sour cream, rouille and honey and tamari sauces all lend themselves well to this recipe.

6. Coconut milk and green curry fondue

Delight your guests with this tasty fondue recipe featuring coconut milk, green curry paste and coriander. This fondue is ideal when prepared with seafood, such as shrimps and scallops, but also with white fish and chicken. What's more, it's a fairly simple and quick recipe to prepare.

7. Blue cheese fondue

If cheese fondue is a must for you, you'll love this blue cheese and brie fondue! It's quick and easy to prepare. All you have to do is cut up some apples, choose a good crusty baguette and you're ready to go! Bon appétit!

8. Vegan Chinese fondue

The Chinese fondue is well known, but a vegan version is often rarer. Yet it's just as delicious as traditional Chinese fondue! Instead of choosing different types of meat, accompany your meal with shiitake mushrooms, potatoes, sweet potatoes, broccoli, zucchini and pieces of tofu. All that's left is to prepare a delicious sauce to accompany your fondue.

9. Japanese fondue

For a Japanese-flavored fondue, opt for a chicken and vegetable broth and add miso. This recipe is delicate, light and goes wonderfully well with bok choy, carrots and shiitake mushrooms. Meat, poultry, and seafood are delicious with Japanese fondue.

10. Chocolate fondue

What better way to end a meal than with a chocolate fondue? Whether it's made with milk, white or dark chocolate, your guests will love it! Prepare a large platter of assorted fruits and dip them in the chocolate!

Have you ever tried eating your chocolate fondue with pieces of baguette? You'll thank us if you liked it!
